We were inspired to create Hantoki and Racoondo when we saw the love that so many people from all over the world share for Korean culture and lifestyle. The characters reflect this heartwarming connection so that anyone can share this happiness in a delightfully imaginative way with friends and family or even strangers!
And that's how Hantoki and Racoondo were born!
Who is Hantoki?
Hantoki is an irresistable little bunny with cute floppy ears. “Han” actually means "Korean" and “Toki” means "bunny" in Korean. Hantoki doesn’t just have any ordinary ears, though. She has very special, magical ears with stripes that can change colors! Why, you ask? Well, Hantoki's first choice of style is an elegant Hanbok, which is the quintessential dress of traditional Korea.
Hantoki's striped ears are inspired by the cute stripes that can adorn the sleeves of these bright and graceful Hanboks. Her magical ears apparently are a source of good luck to all. As you can tell, Hantoki is a sweet and whimsical bunny, and loves to be creative with her outfit depending on the season and mood!
Fun fact: Hantoki's ever-changing adornment on her head is inspired by the decorative headpiece that can accent a hanbok ensemble.
Who is Racoondo?
Hantoki's best friend, Racoondo, is an adventurous and epicurean raccoon. Racoondo was born somehow already knowing blue-belt level Taekwondo and arrived into the world with a mighty kick! That's why his name is a blend of Raccoon + Taekwondo = Racoondo. Cute and at times silly, bold but at times shy, Racoondo's number one, all time, second to none favorite hobby is to eat scrumptious, mouth-watering food. Just like Hantoki, Racoondo’s striped tail has the magical ability to change colors, and is said to be extremely lucky. Life with Racoondo is always a cheery and cheeky adventure!
Fun fact: Racoondo can change his eyebrow colors to fit his mood and style!
What does our logo mean?
You probably already know what Hantoki and Racoondo mean by now, but what are those cute little symbols underneath their names? Those are actually the Korean alphabets that most closely correspond to the English alphabets right above them!
The Korean language is called Han-geul, and one of the absolute coolest facts about it is that it's an alphabet system just like in English, French, or Italian!
